2006 is looking good (musically, at least...)

This week sees the release of new albums from Morrissey, Ringleader of the Tormetors, and The Flaming Lips, At War With the Mystics. Both Morrissey and the Lips are veterans of the scene, and their last outputs were pretty good (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots has to be one of my Top 10 albums of all time.) I haven't listened to any of these new albums yet, but I hope to do so soon. I believe this month will also see the release of a new album from The Secret Machines, and not too long after that we should be getting new stuff from Kula Shaker (YES!! After 7 years or so... let's cross our fingers and hope it's not as bad as the last Jeevas record), Charlatans, Gomez, Zoé, Cerati, Muse, Nouvelle Vague, Snow Patrol, The Open and Radiohead. (Maybe even Franz Ferdinand will surprise us with new stuff before the year is over.) This keeps our hopes up that 2006 may, in fact, be a good year, as far as music is concerned... because in most other aspects, it seems to still be going backwards.
