Quick entry to avoid the blog from rusting. Been travelling a bit the last couple of weeks, and as always, that comes with more things to write about but less time to do it. I have a bunch of notes and CD Reviews and songs ready (or almost ready) to be posted, I just have trouble wrapping them up. So in the meantime, I'll just share this video that Mario, one of my best friends, shared with me a week or two ago. I'd never really listened to M. Ward, just heard about him, and--very entertaining video aside--I really liked the tone, pace, lyrics and sound of this song. I was intrigued by the spacious reverb he applied to his voice and instruments, giving them a somewhat "early days of rock'n'roll" sound (think Sun Studios in the 50s). Then I saw the name of the album this song is on was Post-War, and as much as I wish it meant it had been released with our current wars behind us, I've come to accept he's probably referring to the music of the Post-(World) War (II) era.
